Clayton's Report:
"I have been flat out organising my season and training hard/racing. I recently raced the Luke harrop memorial race as my first race back after my 12months out, and I was straight back into the swing of things swimming at about 60% at the front of the group and opening up a solid lead over a massive group in a lone break which lasted the entire ride. I made the break early and got about 20seconds on the group, then I waited for last year's Alcatraz runner-up, Graham O Grady, to come across the gap. I worked with him for about 15minutes and then dropped him and opened a gap of a minute over the main field including Brad Kahlefeldt, Stuart Hayes,Courtney Atkinson and many other top athletes.
Onto the run and the heat had taken its toll. I ran a solid 5km out in front but faded and went out of the race, basically lacking race fitness which is to be expected as I am targeting American races later in the season.
The bike was great, I rode training wheels and no aero bars, as I don't have any race wheels, so I have time up my sleeve for future races.
Very promising start to the season.
Cheers Mate"
