F.A.Q

General Inquiry

A. You can find your closest Kestrel dealer by visiting our dealer locator, or for international customers, our worldwide distributors. Simply enter your city or zip code, and a list of Kestrel dealers in your area - complete with shop name, address, and phone number - will pop up.

Your local Kestrel dealer will be able to provide you with the most-up-to-date information on what they have in stock. All of our bikes are sold exclusively through our network of specialty bicycle retailers across the globe. We do not engage in any direct sales to consumers.

A. While height and inseam are great starting points, there are many other factors necessary to ensure the perfect fit. The only true way to find out what size bike you need is to be fit by a shop professional. They will take all the necessary measurements to determine a rider's requirements for top tube length, seat tube length, and saddle height, as well as other factors such as stem length and angle, crank length, and saddle fore/aft positioning. These measurements vary significantly from person to person - even if the same height. We, therefore, strongly recommend that you visit your local Kestrel dealer to determine the best size for you.

A. We do not offer any customization options for Kestrel bicycles at this time. The bikes are produced with the colors and specifications that appear on our website and within our catalogs. You may be able to work with your dealer on parts swaps, but we cannot accommodate any color or parts swaps requests from the factory.

A. Once the model year ends so too does the production of that year's lineup, so we will not be able to obtain the bike for you. But a private seller or a dealer with unsold previous model year product (commonly called "new-old stock") may be able to help you.

A. Kestrel's parent company, Advanced Sports, has owned the Kestrel brand since 2007. We do not have information on models produced prior to the purchase. You may want to try the independently run website Bikepedia.

A. Your local Kestrel dealer will be happy to help you select a comparable model to the one that you've enjoyed in the past. Please visit your local Kestrel dealer, which you can find using our dealer locator, or for international customers, our worldwide distributors, and allow the staff to assist you with finding your next great Kestrel! In regard to selling or trading-in your older model, we do not offer such a program at this time.

A. There is no definitive way to put value on a second-hand bike, but your local Kestrel dealer can give you an idea of how much you can expect to get based on the parts installed and the overall condition of the product should you decide to sell it. Some dealers even engage in used bike sales/trade-in programs themselves. In regard to selling or trading-in your older model to us, we do not offer such a program at this time.

Product Services and Warranty

A. We do not stock touch-up paint, nor do we maintain a list of specific paint color codes for our models. We suggest you try an auto supply store to see if they have any vehicle touch-up paint that will match the finish on your frame. You can also try a hobby shop or arts and crafts store that sells model kit paints. We also do not produce decal sets or badges for any of our current or discontinued models.

A. For your safety, we do not provide assembly instructions and require all Kestrel bikes to be assembled by a professional mechanic at a bicycle shop. The importance of professional assembly cannot be overstated. It is one of only two requirements that need to be met in order for the bike to be covered under our warranty policy (the other being that you are the original owner of the bike). If you are interested in having warranty coverage on your bike, please take your bike to your local bike shop to have it assembled and adjusted by a professional bicycle mechanic.

A. We do not produce model-specific manuals for any of our bikes. The manuals are identical for every bike we sell, regardless of model. You can read, download, or print the Kestrel Owner's Manual. The reason the manuals aren't model-specific is because we only produce the bicycle frame. All components are produced by different manufacturers and installed on our frame at the factory. If you are looking for specific information regarding the parts on your bike, please contact the component manufacturer directly.

A. Your local Kestrel dealer will be your best resource for these compatibility questions. Specification on every Kestrel bicycle is subject to change based on availability of the product, and thus, the requested information may be different between two units of the same production model. A professional at a bicycle shop can easily assist you in identifying the sizing and compatibility specifics. Their knowledge and expertise will help you confirm that you are buying the correct replacement parts, and they will be more than happy to work with their partner distributors to source, sell, and even install exactly what you need.

A. The Kestrel warranty policy covers all original parts on the bicycle, excluding paint, decals, tires, tubes, chains, and other wear-and-tear items, for up to one year in the U.S. from the date of purchase. For International warranty polices, please contact the distributor in your country. Original parts and components are covered by the stated warranty of the original manufacturer. For further reference, please see our warranty policy, which details exactly what is covered on your Kestrel product.

All warranty claims are evaluated and handled through our authorized Kestrel dealers. To file a claim, please bring your Kestrel bike or product to your local Kestrel dealer. If you are going to file the claim at a Kestrel dealer that is different from the one where you originally purchased the product, then you must bring a copy of your receipt or invoice that proves you are the original owner of the product. If you do not have an authorized Kestrel dealer in your area, you can work with any local bicycle shop to assist you with the claim.

A. The Kestrel warranty policy extends limited lifetime coverage on defects in materials and workmanship for the bicycle frame and non-suspension fork when the product is purchased from and assembled by an authorized Kestrel dealer. For further reference, please see our warranty policy, which details exactly what is covered on your Kestrel product.

Sponsorship

A. We receive thousands of sponsorship requests throughout the year, and unfortunately, while we would like to fulfill them all, it is not financially possible. That being said, please read the information below for Kestrel's policies related to sponsorship. Please note, if you do send a proposal, you may not receive a response - we only respond to the few that are accepted.

1. If you are an individual road racer, triathlete, or team interested in sponsorship: We sponsor several professional athletes and teams around the world. At the grassroots or regional level, some of our authorized Kestrel dealers sponsor shop teams and athletes. For your best chance at receiving partial or full sponsorship with Kestrel equipment, please check with your local Kestrel dealer to see if they offer such programs. If you are a professional athlete seeking sponsorship, we ask that you or your agent submit a formal, written request to [email protected] or by mail to Advanced Sports, Inc., 10940 Dutton Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154 (Attn: Professional Sponsorship Request). Please include the following in your request:

  • Complete race results for the past two seasons, including class raced and any press you may have received.
  • A list of races you plan to participate in this upcoming year and your goals for each race.
  • Are you affiliated with a bike shop? Other involvement within the cycling community?
  • What are you asking for from us?
  • Relevant sizing information for anything you are asking for (bike, kit, etc.)
  • Do you have any current sponsors - bike-related or otherwise - already signed on for the coming year?
  • Complete contact information, including email address.

Again, please note that we do review all proposals that are submitted but we only respond to the few that are accepted.

2. If you work for an advocacy group or are an organizer or cyclist participating in a charitable, fundraising, or expedition ride/event:

  • At a corporate level, we do not sponsor individual riders or teams participating in a charity ride/event. Kestrel contributes to and works directly with the select charitable organizations. We are not accepting proposals for any additional charities at this time. Kestrel is also involved with the bike industry's advocacy groups: Bikes Belong, IMBA, WFSGI and OIWC.

3. If you are a race or event organizer:

  • We currently do not sponsor any events or races.
